Impophomo is a Non-Profit Organisation (NPO), which was established by Northpoint City Church (NPCC). It represents the church’s outreach programme to bring about social and human development mainly in the impoverished community of Zandspruit. Impophomo also represents other impoverished communities in the city of Johannesburg, South Africa and where the Lord leads. Impophomo has partnered with a social and sustainability company called Umsizi which has sound knowledge and best practices in the filed of socio-economic development.
Zandspruit means “Sand river” or “Dry river” or “river that no longer flows”. It has a spiritual connotation of barrenness and prevailing “curse” on the land. Impophomo is the Zulu word for “Rushing Waters”, or “Gushing Waters” also “Waterfall”. It has a spiritual meaning of life and abundance and restoration of desolate inheritances to the poor i.e. socio-economic and spiritual development. The activities of Impophomo are coordinated through utilising socio-economic skills and resources to ensure success of socio-economic activities much of which is managed by Umsizi. Impophomo is accountable to the eldership of NPCC.
